Never mind the new trend of Christmas in July, Hermanus is experiencing SUMMER in July. With perfect sunny days and sea conditions that are sublime, with less than 1 metre swells for the last 4 days. Forecasts are showing that this great weather should see us through the week.
All before breakfast this morning we have spotted a huge school of dolphins and a Brydes whale passing the New Harbour in Hermanus, what an idyllic ‘office’ location.
With our whale watching boat out on the first morning trip, we will have to wait and see what marine life they encounter.
For the past couple of days sightings from the boat have been great, with sightings of the Southern Right whale; Humpback whales and the Brydes Whale!
But is must be said that the Humpback Whales are stealing the ‘show’! From June to mid-August the Humpback whales migrate past our shores on their way to warmer waters. These agile mammals offer a spectacular show, which has been seen up close, during the tours with Southern Right Charters over the month. As the Humpback whales move on, we welcome the many Southern Right Whales that have arrived.
